Overview
MSH's Policy and Advocacy team furthers the organization's mission to save lives and improve the health of the world's poorest by raising global health priorities before global and U.S. decision makers and advocating for increased health resource commitments. Leveraging MSH's evidence-based, field-driven expertise, our team supports issues, legislation, and appropriations that enable our partners in developing countries to create stronger management systems and improve access to services.
Overall Responsibilities
- Assist the Senior Policy Officer and Policy/Knowledge Exchange Coordinator on preparing meetings with Members of Congress, Administration staff, and key Congressional staff
- Attend hearings and briefings as needed
- Research legislative action that affects the international development community
- Assist with organizing events, such as congressional staff briefings and brown bags
- Administrative support as needed
Qualifications:
1. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program or have graduated no more than one semester prior to the start of the internship
2. Government/political science, development, or international affairs with an interest in global health is preferred
3. Commitment of 18 hours per week
4. Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
5. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
6. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work proactively and independently
