Women's Media Center (WMC) was founded in 2005 by Jane Fonda, Robin Morgan, and Smith graduate Gloria Steinem to positively impact the visibility of women in the media, amplify women?Ts voices on key issues in the national dialogue, fight sexism and bias against women in the media, and increase professional opportunities for women across all forms of media. Through training, advocacy, and the development of original content, WMC is breaking through the status quo so that the media more accurately represents the perspectives, positions, and priorities of women.
The SheSource Intern assists the Media Director & Media Manager. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook and have an interest in media. In addition, candidates must be Internet savvy, have good clerical skills, and pay excellent attention to detail. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, an ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines, and a demonstrated commitment to team work.
The WMC SheSource Media Intern assists the Communications Director in the day to day management of SheSource, the WMC's online database of women experts (please visit www.shesource.org to learn more). The intern serves as a liaison to our experts, so excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor are important. Primary responsibilities include: editing news brief, matching experts to headlines of the day, web editing (Contribute), researching media requests (Cision), contact management (DIA, Outlook), compiling and distributing email blasts (MailList King), and conducting online research and regular outreach to experts. Candidate must be available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.
Flexible availability is required.

Gain valuable experience with an influential and dynamic organization. This position will start as soon as possible. This is a six month commitment: Position runs until January 7, 2011.
We are looking for interns who are excited about our mission. In your cover letter, please describe your interest in contemporary women's issues; how this interest is demonstrated in your past experience and how you would like to expand upon it with Women's Media Center. Scholarship Stipends
In our commitment to amplifying the voices of ALL women, the WMC offers a limited number of scholarship stipends for our internship program. If you are interested please submit, apart from your cover letter, a 400 word statement describing your financial reasons for applying. Stipends will be awarded to those with demonstrated need.
