Feminist Job Description

Job Title: Domestic Assault Response Team Volunteer
Organization: Douglas County Task Force on Family Violence
Region: East Coast
Description: Volunteers are needed for the Domestic Assault Response Team (D.A.R.T.), part of the Douglas County Task Force on Family Violence. Volunteers will be required to complete an initial 8 hours of training and must attend a meeting/training session one evening a month.

Volunteers will be responsible for taking the on-call phone for a few days at a time and will answer incoming calls during evening/weekend hours. Volunteers will also contact victims in family violence cases referred to us by local law enforcement.

The goal is to ensure that victims are contacted within a reasonable amount of time after an incident of family violence so that they can be connected to services. Volunteers will be trained on how to respond to crisis calls, on what local resources are available and on how to help victims navigate the criminal justice system.

Volunteers must be able to pass a criminal background check and must be available for trainings and meetings, usually held on weekday evenings.
