Sexual Assault Response Team

Description:

Volunteers are needed for the Sexual Assault Response Team (S.A.R.T.), part of the Douglas County Task Force on Family Violence. Volunteers will be required to complete an initial 16 hours of training and must attend a meeting/training session one evening a month.

Volunteers will sign up to be on call for shifts of several days at a time. On-call S.A.R.T. volunteers will respond to sexual assaults by meeting with the victim at a hospital to provide support.

The goal is to ensure that all victims of sexual assault within the county are provided with immediate support. Volunteers will be trained on how to respond to sexual assault calls, on what local resources are available and on how to help victims navigate the criminal justice system.

Volunteers must be able to pass a criminal background check and must be available for trainings and meetings, usually held on weekday evenings.
